THE STORY

In the mid-90's six women artists who exhibited their work during the warm and mild months at the Waitsfield Farmers’ Market in rural Vermont had a vision...

Behind every creative artist there is a gallery.

In 1995, six talented women decided to create a cooperative, a place to sell their wares and be able to offer the same venue for other artists . Their collaboration brought them to a small gallery space nestled in the front of the Irasville Country Store. Artisans' Gallery soon became a thriving, year-round shop filled with the juried hand-crafted work of Vermont artists. It was not long before the walls were filled with paintings, quilts, silk art and photographs and every shelf brimmed with jewelry, pottery, hand-painted wooden bowls and stained glass. It was time to expand... And so, a charming 1830’s general store at 20 Bridge Street in Historic Waitsfield Village ultimately became home to 150+ artists and their quality art and craft. We are proud to have provided this opportunity for Vermont artists—and to offer their creative work to you.
